“Adobe Menu Combinations 1.0” is a Desk accessory version of table C-2 of “The PPA System of Adobe Fonts User’s Manual” (copyright 1989, The Professional PostScript Alliance, Inc). The DA lists the true PostScript font names of volumes 1 to 85 of the Adobe Type Library, and the choices from Font and Style menus in most Macintosh applications used to create type in each of these fonts. If you can’t always remember that the way to get “New Calendonia Black Italic” is to choose “Sb New Calendonia SemiBold” and the “Bold” and “Italic” styles, then you’ll find this DA useful.
The information in the DA appears in a scrolling list in two columns. Font families are in alphabetical order, and all font names for each font are grouped by family. To find the menu combination for a font name, scroll down to the font name, and the combination of font and styles to produce that font are listed to its right. About as simple as it looks.

“The PPA is an association of over twenty of the leading high-level service bureaus in the United States and Canada, incorporated in March 1989. Individual members of the PPA are some of the most technologically advanced and productive PostScript language output centers in operation; as a cooperative effort, the PPA has become a leading force in the PostScript imaging industry.” Their description of themselves. They seem a good group of folks: competent, helpful and interested in supporting and extending the use of PostScript, especially by graphic arts and design professionals. Their recent compilation of NFNT packages for the Adobe Type Library deserves to become the standard they hope it to be.
